What We Believe

WE BELIEVE there is one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, who is infinitely
perfect and eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We
do not believe in three gods, but one God revealed in three persons (Gen 1.1-3; Deut
6.4; Matt 28.19; 2 Cor 13.14).

WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully man, was born of a virgin,
lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was bodily resurrected on the third
day, and is now seated at the Father’s right hand where he intercedes for us. We
believe Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead, but we do not know the
day or the hour of his return (Matt 1.18-23; John 1.1, 14; Rom 8.34; 1 Cor 15.1-4; 1
Thess 4.13-18).

WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers all believers, enables them to live
a holy life, and assures them of their salvation. We believe the evidence of the Spirit in a
person’s life is not a particular gift or manifestation but love—love for God and others
(John 3.5; Rom 8.9, 15-16; Gal 5.22-23).

WE BELIEVE the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God and thus fully trustworthy in
all that it affirms and teaches. Though we respect and value church tradition, the Bible is
our final authority concerning what we believe and how we live (Ps 119.105; 2 Tim 3.16;
2 Pet 1.20-21).

WE BELIEVE human beings are created in God’s image, yet they have fallen into sin
and therefore are sinful by nature and by choice. In our fallen condition, we are unable
to save ourselves or even initiate our salvation (Gen 1.26-28; Ps 51.5; Rom 3.23; Eph
2.3).

WE BELIEVE salvation is a free gift intended and provided for all, but it must be
received through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe God’s love and power can preserve
us from apostasy, but we must and can persevere in faith to the end to be saved (Rom
6.23; Eph 2.8-9; 1 Tim 2.3-4; Heb 3.12-14; 2 Pet 3.9).

WE BELIEVE the church belongs to God and consists of all the redeemed and only the
redeemed. We believe Christ is the head of the church and there is no membership in
the church apart from salvation (Acts 2.47; 1 Cor 1.2; 12.12-31; Col 1.18).

WE BELIEVE baptism should follow faith in Christ and that it symbolizes the washing
away of sin and our new life in Christ. We do not believe baptism itself saves us. We
believe the Lord's Supper is to be celebrated on a regular basis as we remember
Christ's death and look forward to his return (Matt 28.19; Acts 18.8; Rom 6.3-4; 1 Cor
11.23-26).

Our Values

Intimacy- Prayer and Worship acknowledges our total and complete dependence upon God. It empowers us to live the transformed, gospel-centered life that God has called us to live. It reminds us that we are not in charge, but we worship a God who is.

Grace- Jesus is our highest priority and the reason we exist. We intentionally push back on the exhaustive styles of trying to make it on our own, and instead simply abide in Jesus. You will hear us talk about "Abide Theology." Move from striving to abiding as you experience God's grace.

Give- We believe that "growing in the grace of giving" is not the product of guilt or coercion. Rather, it flows from a heart that has been transformed by the gospel. By giving, we become a part of God's mission to redeem and restore the world.

Invite- We are surrounded by people who are not yet followers of Christ. God calls us to invite them into our lives and our church community so they might see and hear the good news of the Kingdom.

Discipleship- For our mission to be sustainable and reproducible, we must pass along to others the knowledge, skills, and values that will enable them to serve. Transformation happens when we seek physical, spiritual, and emotional health in groups of 2 or more, which leads to relational health. True, authentic community is expressed by love for God and others.

Mission- God calls us to serve. Our service has the greatest impact when our individual strengths and passions are strategically utilized to accomplish God's mission in the world. We leverage our lives for the good of others far beyond the walls of the church.
